“For the Lord gives wisdom . . . “ Proverbs 2:6  (NIV)

The journey of life is full of questions. Here are a few random ones that have caught my attention over the years:

  1. If the black box flight recorder is never damaged during a plane crash, why isn’t the whole airplane made of the same material?
  2. Would a fly without wings be called a walk?
  3. Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the battery is dead?
  4. How come ‘abbreviated’ is such a long word?
  5. Whose cruel idea was it for the word ‘lisp’ to have an ‘s’ in it?
  6. If we’re here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?
  7. Isn’t it a bit unnerving that doctors call what they do ‘practice’?
  8. If all the world’s a stage, where are the audience sitting?
  9. If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?
  10. If quitters never win, and winners never quit, why do we say, “Quit while you’re ahead”?

Questions, there are no end to them. I’ve been asked some toughies over the years: Why would a good God allow suffering? Why in the world am I here? How can I forgive my unfaithful spouse? Can a sexually abused person find healing? Why do wicked men prosper? And many more . . . Like you, I struggle for answers and often come up short. I feel inadequate, often lacking wisdom or understanding. But while there’s much I don’t know, there’s one thing I do know: “Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known” (1 Corinthians 13:12).
