Stay the Course

Let love and faithfulness never leave you. Proverbs 3:3 (NIV).

I love the story about the ninety-three-year-old man who finally conceded he couldn’t live alone. After much thought, he decided he didn’t want to live with his daughter. So he went to see a local nursing home. After one look at a large room where the older people were sitting silently staring into space, he quipped, “Well, one thing’s for sure; if I come here, we are going to have to turn this waiting room into a living room!”

Stay the course. Never stop living. If everything’s a whirl, stay the course. If you’re in the wilderness, stay the course. If you’re sick, stay the course. If you’re old, stay the course. Never surrender. Don’t get discouraged. Don’t give up. Keep on keeping on. “Don’t quit, even if it costs you your life” Revelation 2:10 (MSG).

“Let love and faithfulness never leave you ” Proverbs 3:3 (NIV). The Lord gives us the direction, but it’s our faithfulness that determines how far we will go. More than anything else it was faithfulness that enabled Joseph to move from his dream to his destiny. Like Joseph, remain faithful. Don’t get bogged down, hung up, or strung out. Stay the course. Knuckle down, hang in, and press on. For when you’re faithful, God will carry you through to your destiny.

God wants you to know and fulfill His purpose for your life. He wants you to attain your destiny. But for this to happen you must trust in God, discover your gifts, and stay the course. So do what God wants you to do. Live out the unique purpose God has for your life. For no one else has the destiny God’s prepared for you. What you don’t do will remain undone. In the words of the great evangelist, D. L. Moody, “I have a work to do, laid out for me in the secret counsels of eternity; no other can do it, it is not true that some other will do it; it will remain undone. If I know my own heart today, I would rather die than not be used by God in building up His kingdom.” I hope you share the same intent …
