“This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord Almighty” Haggai 2:6-7

In the January 2002 edition of Focus on the Family there was an article entitled, Shake the Nation. It reported on a pro-life campaign in which baby rattles were sent by Americans to their senators in the hope that the sound of the rattles would be a constant reminder of the children whose lives are at stake because of the brutality of abortion. There were 20,000 rattles sent by pro-lifers across the country. As Folger said, “This campaign is a signal that Americans are not going to sit idly by or wait to react to the aggressive efforts of the abortion lobby. We will shake this nation back to life, and this historic campaign is only the beginning.”

What a wonderful concept. American pro-lifers have had success as they’ve sought to shake their nation back to life. The Shake the Nation campaign shouldn’t be restricted to the U.S.A. It would be great if pro-lifers in every country sent rattles to local politicians in an effort to shake our world back to life.

It shouldn’t stop with the pro-life campaign. It should also extend to the fight for the lives of those who are dead in trespasses and sin. Christians should be asking God to shake sinners back to life. We should be pleading for the miracle of the new birth and trusting God for a fresh harvest of baby Christians. It’s time for every nation to be shaken back to life – to fullness of life, to the life that leads to eternal life.

So let’s find Spirit-led ways to be rattles that catch the attention of the not yet saved. Every Christian should be crying out to God to shake the nations of the world back to life. You can do that by praying for your nation today.

Consider the prophecy of Haggai 2:6-9 and ask God to make it a reality in our time: “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the Lord Almighty.”
