But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son. Galatians 4:4 (NIV)
During the Second World War, on a battlefield in France, the fog was so dense it had brought the fighting to a temporary halt. Both German and French troops had dug in as they waited for the fog to lift. Between the two positions stood a lonely farmhouse. Then the sun broke through and the guns opened up. But suddenly both sides ceased firing and a strange silence ensued. For between the lines a little baby was seen crawling on his hands and knees across a meadow, perfectly happy as he stopped to play with a dandelion!
That’s a picture of what happened two thousand years ago, in Bethlehem in Judea, when another Baby came into a warring world. He came between two positions, between a holy God and a sin sick world. He came according to a preordained plan. He came at just the right time. And He came as a peace child, to stop the fighting and to reconcile man with God. As it says in Galatians 4:4, “But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son.”
