One Morning

But I cry to you for help, O Lord; in the morning my prayer comes before you. Psalm 88:13. (NIV)

Awakening early one morning, I rushed madly into the day.

With so much to accomplish, I didn’t have time to pray.

Problems fast and furious, each hour a heavier task.

I wondered, “Why doesn’t God help me?”

Then heard, “Why didn’t you ask?”

The next morning I got up early, just as I’d done before.

But it was different, I paused before rushing out the door.

With much to accomplish, I knew I should pray.

And bowing my head, I spoke to God.

Then went on … to a much better day.
