Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had. Philippians 2:5 (NLT).
Christians should have the same attitude as Christ. But how do you do that? By imitating Him.
“Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and sympathetic? Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one heart and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. Don’t think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and what they are doing. Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not demand and cling to his rights as God. He made himself nothing; he took the humble position of a slave” Philippians 2:1-7 (NLT).
There you have it. But as long as we have unhealed places within us, these fissures in the soul, we’ll find it next to impossible to imitate Christ. Are there things keeping you from freedom and victory. Ask Christ to heal the fissures in your soul. Do you want to clear the way for future progress. You may heap great demands on yourself, discipline yourself mercilessly, hold onto a set of principles, or work harder than anyone else, but these things will never heal the fissures in your soul. What you need to do is ask God to “make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed” Hebrews 12:13 (NASV).
