Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Psalm 85:6 (NIV).
My heart’s desire is to see the kingdom of God advancing in leaps and bounds. To see scores of ordinary Christians become mighty warriors for God. To see countless believers on the march for Jesus. To see a dynamic and fresh movement of the Holy Spirit in which the bastions of sin and secularism are breached by the Gospel of salvation. To see an era of unprecedented spiritual activity in which the strongholds of darkness are stormed by the love of Christ. And to see the day when Christians obey the trumpet call to “stand up, stand up for Jesus … till every foe is vanquished and Christ is Lord indeed.”
I can just picture it. A time when sinners fall down in the streets as they cry out for mercy. A season in which the primary concern of our youth is, “What must I do to be saved.” A time when God’s people fearlessly prevail against anything the enemy throws at them. An era when believers boldly stand against the devil’s schemes in the name of Christ and are “strong in the Lord and in his mighty power” Ephesians 6:10.
I think it’s helpful to exercise faith through visualizing the flaming arrows of the evil one being extinguished by the shield of faith (cf. Ephesians 6:16). Or seeing God raising up regiments of believers who bring healing and comfort to the sick, help and hope to the poor, and the love of Christ to more people than we’ve ever seen before.
Yes, I’m looking forward to D-day. To the time when our Commander in Chief, the Lord of lords, is going to lead us, train us, go before us, and arm us with confidence and strength to enlist the rank and file of Canadians to join a life changing movement in which people from sea to sea are front line heroes for justice and mercy in the land.
Is it possible? As I read the Bible it’s obvious that God’s done it before and can do it again. He’s the same God today as He always has been (cf. Hebrews 13:8). Which means front line Christianity could begin at any time. So let’s get ready.
