Pray for One Another

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;  and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;  and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 2 Peter 1:5-7 (NIV)

The following suggested verses provide a wonderful framework as we pray for one another:

Pray for a spirit of:

Assurance – “Draw near to God . . . in full assurance of faith” Hebrews 10:22.

Availability – “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8.

Authority – “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven” Matthew 16:19.

Commitment – “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve” Joshua 24:15.

Compassion – “I have compassion for these people” Mark 8:2.

Confidence – “I can do everything through him who gives me strength” Philippians 4:13.

Consistency – “When he asks, he must believe and not doubt” James 1:6.

Denial – “He must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me” Luke 9:23.

Diligence – “Make every effort to add to your faith goodness and . . . love” 2 Peter 1:5-7.

Generosity – “Freely you have received, freely give” Matthew 10:8.

Holiness – “Be holy, because I am holy” 1 Peter 1:16.

Humility – “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up” James 4:10.

Integrity – “Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody” Romans 12:17.

Loyalty – “Your people will be my people and your God my God” Ruth 1:16.

Maturity – “. . . have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil” Hebrews 5:14.

Prayer – “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength” Isaiah 40:31.

Purity – “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God” Matthew 5:8.

Purpose – “Take only ways that are firm . . . keep your foot from evil” Proverbs 4:26-27.

Reverence – “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” Proverbs 9:10.

Reliability – “Those who have been given a trust must prove faithful” 1 Corinthians 4:2.

Revelation – “That . . . God . . . may give you the Spirit of . . . revelation” Ephesians 1:17

Restoration – “He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted” Isaiah 61:1.

Repentance – “Produce fruit in keeping with repentance” Luke 3:8.

Submission – “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ” Ephesians 5:21.

Service – “Let us do good to all people” Galatians 6:10.

Sensitivity – “See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness” Luke 11:35.

Tenderness – “Because your heart was responsive . . . I have heard you” 2 Kings 22:19.

Trust – “Those who trust in the Lord . . . cannot be shaken” Psalm 125:1.

Teachability – “Be obedient . . . be ready to do whatever is good” Titus 3:1.

Unity – “Be perfectly united in mind and thought” 1 Corinthians 1:10.
