How to Defeat the Attacks and Accusations of Satan

They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. Revelation 12:11 (NIV)

A three step plan:

Step 1 – Trust in the blood of Christ.

“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb . . .”

Satan will accuse believers of their sins and failures. Satan’s accusations are usually true. We do lie, act selfishly, think impure thoughts, puff ourselves up with pride, and so on. But, our sins have been nailed to the cross. We are covered by the blood of the Lamb. Satan has nothing left with which to accuse us. Christ has borne our sins and we are no longer judged or accused before God. “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” Romans 8:1.

Step 2 – Testify about Jesus Christ.

“. . . and by the word of their testimony;”

Satan is overcome when believers testify about the freedom we have in Jesus Christ. Don’t bottle up the good news inside of you. The word of your testimony drives back spiritual darkness. Satan and his demons retreat when you speak openly about all that Christ has done, and continues to do in your life. “So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord” 2 Timothy 1:8.

Step 3 – Turn your life over to Christ..

“. . . they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”

Satan is rendered powerless when a believer puts everything he is and has into the hands of Jesus Christ. Victory is found at the foot of the cross. When a believer loves Jesus more than anything, will give up everything, even his own life, Satan is overcome. In Matthew 4:1-11 the devil tries to tempt Jesus and Jesus finally responds saying, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only” Matthew 4:10. “Then the devil left him” Matthew 4:11. Likewise, when tempted by the devil, “worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.”
