The Second Law of Thermodynamics informs us that there’s a universal tendency for all natural systems to go from order to disorder, from complex to simple. According to this law our present universe is becoming less orderly, more random, and proceeding to an ultimate death. In essence – the earth is dying and will one day be dead.

The law is stated in broader terms in Psalm 102:25-26 where it says, “In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded.”

Before the Second Law of Thermodynamics existed, many people had trouble believing Psalm 102:25-26. They reasoned that the universe had always been here and would always be here. But what the Bible says is true; the universe is running down, it’s deteriorating. In God’s time it will all come to an end, as indicated in Matthew 5:18 and Revelation 21:1, this earth, and the heavens around it, will pass away. This is not a remote possibility. Scientists can measure the decay. The day is coming when every star will have exhausted its supply of fuel. Each star will grow cold and dark, and life as we know it will cease to exist.

Which raises a conflict within the scientific world. If everything in this world is running down then how could the theory of evolution have any scientific validity? For the evolutionist believes the exact opposite to the Second Law of Thermo-dynamics. The evolutionist suggests that the universal tendency is for all natural systems to go from the simple to the complex. He suggests that life is gradually evolving into more and more sophisticated forms; that single celled organisms somehow diverged into multicellular organisms.

The mind boggles. Despite the fact that there’s an ever growing list of fauna and flora that have become extinct, the evolutionist continues to hold on to his theory. Without a single scrap of fossil evidence to reveal the possibility of transitional forms, the evolutionist blindly and naively stands firm. As anyone knows who’s taken the time to study the subject, the so called “missing links” of man’s ancestry have been a litany of hoaxes or mistakes.

But then we shouldn’t be surprised. Pride makes men do many foolish things. Evolutionists are attempting to be rationalistic and mechanistic, not so much for the sake of science, but primarily for the sake of secularism. Which leads to an obvious conclusion; evolution isn’t about science, it’s about a world view. The evolutionist doesn’t want to acknowledge that God is his creator because it would logically follow that God is his Lord and Master as well!
